Welcome!

My name is Peter Arko (although you probably know this by now) and I’m a certified music geek. Most of my experience is based in social media, event production and marketing & promotions - although I’ve successfully taken on other challenges like booking, sponsor recruitment, video production, music licensing and copywriting. If you’re looking for a creative, passionate and hard-working person then I encourage you to get in touch with me: earsofthebeholder@gmail.com.

In August of 2008, I founded a music blog called Ears of the Beholder that features songs and videos from emerging artists in the independent music scene. The first sign that I was doing something right was in February 2009, when Mashable named EOTB in their list of “18 of the Best Music Tumblelogs.” Since then my projects have been featured on Pitchfork, Gorilla vs. Bear, Yours Truly, SF Weekly’s All Shook Down, SF Bay Guardian’s Noise, The Bay Citizen, Scoutmob and Yvynyl’s prestigious “Best Music Tumblr Blogs.”

This past year, I extended my brand to the live music scene, producing shows in San Francisco at venues like Rickshaw Stop, Café Du Nord, Public Works, Milk Bar, El Rio and Noise Pop Festival’s Pop-Up Shop. This year, I also co-founded #MEGABLAAG which hosted it’s first blogger/tech party at SXSW this year. These endeavors blossomed out of my experience working for event production companies like Noise Pop and Superfly Presents

This spring I also co-founded City Limits Records. A unique record label that organizes blogger-curated compilations highlighting the music scenes of different cities. Listen to our first compilation here.

In case that wasn’t enough for you, please take a moment to check out some of my other projects featured on this page. Thanks for visiting!

Associate Producer on Do You Flip? TV Campaign (Winter 2010)

From July - December 2010 I worked on Flip Video’s national television campaign at a creative agency called Urgent Content. Our commercials were featured on channels like MTV, ESPN, VH1 and Cartoon Network. My contributions to the campaign included:

-Sourcing genuine Flip content from the web and through user submissions
-Reaching out to filmmakers to coordinate shoots
-Managing production contracts

Music Supervisor for Ford & Good Magazine’s Edge of Progress Innovator Series

In Fall of 2010 I selected and licensed music for three innovator sessions sponsored by Ford and Good Magazine. Artists included Javelin, Lullatone and Vibe Mountain. Check out the New York and San Francisco episodes too.

Producer of Treasure Island Music Festival Treasure Hunt 2010

In September 2010, I produced a citywide pirate-themed treasure hunt to promote Treasure Island Music Festival 2010. I partnered with The Bold Italic to recruit over a dozen local businesses to be “secret locations” on the treasure map. The event increased exposure for the businesses and generated sales by promising a raffle ticket for each receipt submitted by teams at the end of the day. In addition, Yelp held a random drawing for one of the people that used their app to “check-in” at locations during the event. The event ended with an after party at Milk Bar which included DJs, drink specials and a costume contest. Winning teams were awarded with tickets to the festival or Treasure Island night shows.

Producer of Camp Nowhere Sessions

In May 2010 I produced two Tame Impala videos for music blog Yours Truly at a secret location in the Santa Cruz Mountains that I call “Camp Nowhere.” These videos were featured on Pitchfork, Stereogum, Gorilla vs. Bear and The LA Times Music Blog. They were Pitchfork’s most viewed videos for nearly a month and have since generated over 50k views. Watch the other video here.
